*To remember where your dormant plants are,
use colorful plastic golf tees to stick in the ground where the plants are located.
*Cut out your dead flower stalks and remember to
keep your tall flowers staked.
*To have larger blooms on chyrsanthemums, disbudding does the trick!
Also mums, except the spray types, do well when disbudded.
*Plants in containers are not able to absorb as much water.
If they are in the sun they might need watering several times a week,
but make sure you are not over-watering them.
*Make sure you clean up rose and peony leaves that have fallen
otherwise over the winter they can harbor disease.
*When plants have died try to remove them so they dont keep
harmful insects and disease.
*Make sure you water plants earlier then later so the soil has
enough time to absorb the water before the hot sun comes
out and dries it up. Watering early in the day also makes sure
the soil has enough time to dry out before sundown,
otherwise if the soil is still wet it can cause fungus.
*Pick up the fallen fruit from your fruit trees to avoid pests.
*If you do not get rid of weeds and stop their seeding
they will make more trouble for you next year.
*Watch your composite pile that there are no weeds in it.
Weeds with mature seed heads are able to
reseed and grow when you use your composite.
